That is certainly what it has felt like that last few weeks since our last update. Not much has changed to the actual house since our framing post, but that doesn’t mean stuff hasn’t been happening. We’ve been meeting with so many vendors I can’t even remember them all, so I’ve started calling them all Monica. Too many names to remember and I’m the customer so I’m right. Isn’t that how that works?
The big reason why not much work has been done on the house was because we were waiting for the full permit. All the work done so far was on a demo permit, so some work could happen in the few weeks it would take to get the full one. Good news on that front though. We now have the full permit! Now all the fun stuff can start.
Digging/grading starts next week, followed by building the foundation for the extension. Then we start framing out the extension! Now that we are underway expect many more posts outlining all the work. They should hopefully be moving pretty quick once they get going. You can kind of see the orange spray painted lines they painted in the yard indicating new house/patio/retaining wall.
We did get a little delayed in the permit process. The city wanted a word changed, and where the smoke alarm was going to go marked on the plans. Apparently, they are just a pain to justify their existence and the cost of the permit. Or at least that is what I think. We’ve also had some spectacular rain in Atlanta. We have been spared most of the worst weather compared to other parts of the country so we are very grateful for that. Hopefully with some dry days coming up things will start up again!
Edie was not a fan of the rain. Evidenced here:
